Al’s mother battled breast cancer while he was growing up and they were warned about complications that had the possibility of happening later on in her life…

At 20 years old, he received a phone call from his brother telling him that their mother was in the ICU and they needed to get up to Rochester now because she wasn’t going to make it through the day.

Before she passed away that day, Al left her with a promise that we can’t wait for you to hear about today.

AL LAUDENCIA

Big Al’s was born as Hal n Al’s Q & Catering, in 2012, from the back of a tiny garage in Adel, Iowa. Al Laudencia and his Father-In-Law, Hal Chase, started it all with a dream of smoking the best beef, pork and chicken in Iowa and delivering the best catering experience imaginable. A few years, a few more meat smokers and several stacks of hickory a food trailer later, they had conquered that goal and Al forged ahead to set up shop and planted his Big Al’s BBQ & Catering flag right here in Des Moines, Iowa.
